According to 'Abdallah Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father), the Prophet (Salla allah alayhi wa salam) said: "The thing for which Zamzam water is drunk is granted". (Reported by Daraqoutni in his Sunan n°2739 and authenticated by Sheikh Albani in Sahih Targhib Wa Tarhib n°1164.
According to Abou Dharr the Prophet (Salla allah alayhi wa salam) said: "In Mecca, my ceiling was removed, Gabriel descended, opened my heart, washed it with Zamzam water then he brought a vessel filled with gold, wisdom and faith, poured it into my chest, closed it, took my hand and took me up to the lowest heaven" (Al Bukhari).
Thus, the fact that the Prophet's heart (Salla allah alayhi wa salam) was washed with this water proves its purity.
