This is the explanation by Shaykh ‘Abder-Razzâq Al-Badr – may Allah preserve him – of the hadith of Umm Salamah – may Allah be pleased with her – whose meaning is:
“O Allah! I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and accepted deeds.”
Reported by Ahmad and Ibn Mājah and others.
If you reflect—dear brother, dear sister—on this supplication that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to repeat regularly, every day after praying the Fajr prayer, you will understand that this supplication is said at a time, at a moment, that is appropriate.
As-Subh (the morning prayer) is the beginning of the day and that with which the day starts.
How important it is for a Muslim to begin his day by turning to Allah so that Allah may grant him these three things:
-
Beneficial knowledge
-
Good and lawful provision
-
Righteous or accepted action
If you reflect on this, you will find that these three things are the goals a Muslim sets for himself every day; for the daily goals of a Muslim are:
-
Beneficial knowledge
-
Good provision
-
Righteous action
