The Religious Science Student's Ornament According to Bakr Abou Zayd - 3rd Edition - IBN BADIS Edition
Many religious texts confirm that good behavior with exemplary morals, good manners, and the development of pious behavior are the characteristics of the people of Islam. The topic mentioned refers to general behavior that is essential for anyone who wants to devote themselves to religious studies.
Indeed, the book "The Student's Ornament in Science" is among the best works written on the subject of behavior when seeking knowledge. Allah has granted it acceptance, which distinguishes it from other summarized works on this important subject. Due to its importance, many scholars have explained it, and its most famous explanation is that of Sheikh Muhammad ibn Salih al-'Uthaymin (d. 1421 H.), may Allah have mercy on him, who said in his introduction to this epistle:
"If the student of science does not adorn himself with good behavior, his pursuit of knowledge will be of no interest to him. On the contrary, it is obligatory for a person, every time they learn something from virtues or worship, to fulfill it. If they do not, they will be equivalent to the ignorant, and the ignorant will even be in a better situation than them, because they will have voluntarily abandoned good, unlike the ignorant, and because the ignorant can benefit when they learn, unlike the one who learns and does not benefit. This is why I encourage myself, as well as you, to adorn myself with virtuous behaviors, to be patient, to endure, to forgive and to be benevolent, as much as possible. All this without forgetting the greatest advice, which is the advice of the fear of Allah, Mighty and Exalted be He." The author, may Allah have mercy on him, says (pp. 8-9): "So accept this ornament, which contains a collection of (noble) behaviors, as well as the things that contradict and nullify them. Thus, when an individual neglects one of these behaviors, they are actually performing one of the cancellations that oppose this neglected behavior). Some people apply most of these behaviors, while others neglect many of them".
