Allah has established the duties that each spouse must observe towards the other. The right of one is the duty of the other. The Messenger of ALLAH said: "Indeed, you have rights towards your wives, and your wives have rights towards you."
However, the man - for particular considerations - has a precedence that Allah تعالى has granted him according to the following verse:
وَلَهُنَّ مِثْلُ الَّذِي عَلَيْهِنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَلِلرِّجَالِ عَلَيْهِنَّ دَرَجَةٌ [البقرة: 228 .
Meaning of the verse:
"As for them, they have rights equivalent to their obligations, in accordance with decency. But men have a predominance over them." [s.Al-Baqara (The Cow) : 228].
Conjugal rights are of three kinds: common rights between them and specific rights for each, that is, the rights of the woman towards her husband and the rights of the husband towards her.
