Wedding celebrations: Customs and religious judgments, by Sheikh Mohamed Ali Ferkous (Professor at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences University of Algiers (I))

Here is the first series of questions related to the judgments made on the customs and ingrained traditions in Algerian wedding celebrations. This series is, originally, a set of questions submitted by brothers from the commune of Douaouda (Wilaya of Tipaza), to which we have added other questions (to finally constitute the said series).

Given the number of fatwas that continue to increase, and which relate to marriage, its preliminaries and its customs, we thought it good to add to this epistle a third series of questions that have a close relationship with this subject.

This, in order to be at the service of knowledge, to spread good and to watch over the female gender more closely, which, as a whole, has unfortunately reached a deplorable and saddening level, after the woman has neglected the learning of beneficial knowledge and has moved away from the acquisition and application of judgments related to her religion, to meticulously interest herself in her beauty, her adornment and her toilette, and to conform, in her attire, to the Western model.
