Explanation of the Book of Tawhid, Volume 1 – Sheikh Sâlih Al-Fawzân
The subject of this book is the clarification of the oneness of Allah, which He has made obligatory upon His servants and for which He created them, as well as the clarification of major shirk that opposes it, and of whatever opposes its obligatory or recommended perfection in terms of minor shirk and religious innovations.

And the meaning of kitâb (the book): it comes from the root of the verb kataba, which carries the meaning of jama‘a (to gather). Al-kitâbah bil-qalam (writing with the pen) means gathering letters and words.
And at-tawhîd (oneness): it comes from the root wahhadahu, meaning to make something one. The intended meaning here is to devote exclusive worship to Allah.
And khalaqtou (I created): creation refers to bringing something into existence without basis or prior model.
Liya‘budūn (that they worship Me): In its linguistic sense, ibâdah means humility and submission. In its religious sense, it is a general term for everything Allah loves and is pleased with, in terms of words and deeds, outward and inward.
