Ajmal is a brand with a ‘purpose’: every year, 10% of the net profits of the Ajmal Group are used for philanthropic activities. These funds are used for the deserving and underprivileged in the form of free treatment in hospitals and free education in schools, colleges and orphanages, including vocational training for the youth. Thus, we cherish the memories of beautiful smiles symbolizing happiness, as enriching life through modern education and creating memories of happiness go hand in hand.

History of Ajmal Perfumes

Haji Ajmal Ali

From a Farmer to a Perfumer

The story of our founding father, Late Haji Ajmal Ali, is one of the essences of inspiration. Born into a family of rice farmers, from Alinagar – a small village in Hojai, Assam, India – he realised at a very young age that farming would not provide him with enough to support himself and his family.

He had heard about the Oudh business and how it could be a good livelihood for the families in his hometown. He decided to take a chance on the forest, and this decision would lay the foundation for Ajmal.

In 1951, he decided to settle down in Mumbai, India, with just Rs 500 as seed capital and opened his first shop on Nagdevi Street, Crawford Market. The rest, as they say, is history. With honesty, hard work, sincerity and dedication, he slowly and steadily built his business. With his sons also stepping into the business – over a span of two decades – the family planted the seeds of the Ajmal brand and nurtured them into a strong tree.

Thus, a simple farmer embarked on a remarkable journey to become a world-class perfumer.
